Bill Ingram brings extensive experience in public higher education to moss+ross. He spent more than thirty years at Durham Technical Community College, including serving as the institution’s fourth president from 2008 -2020. Bill’s leadership roles at Durham Tech and in the Durham community bring a valuable perspective on the importance of community partnerships in supporting accessible educational opportunities.
Bill has long been involved in the Durham community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro, the Discover Durham Board of Directors and the board of Made in Durham, a collective impact organization focused on re-engaging disconnected youth in education and career opportunities. He currently serves on the North Carolina Coalition for Global Competitiveness, a public-private enterprise formed to create a unified statewide plan to expand global engagement in our state. He is also a member and is past president of the Downtown Durham Rotary Club.
Beyond his tenure at Durham Tech, Bill has been devoted to promoting technical and community college education in North Carolina and the southern region. He served on NC State’s College of Education Belk Center Advisory Board for Community College Leadership and Research and on the Board and Executive Committee for SACSCOC, the south’s regional accrediting body for higher education. He also served on the executive board for the North Carolina Campus Compact and is past president of the NC Adult Education Association.
An alumnus of Ohio Wesleyan University, Bill also holds the Master of Science and Doctor of Education degrees from NC State University. Bill and his wife, Ann, are long-time Durham residents and parents of two adult children. Fun fact: Bill is an avid duplicate bridge player and has attained the rank of Life Master.
