Ann C. Simpson, Senior Associate

Ann Simpson works on feasibility studies, executive searches, fundraising plans, and capital campaigns. She joined moss+ross in 2013 after 16 years as Associate Dean for Development at the UNC School of Government, where she received the Chancellor’s Award in 2006, and 20 years in development and communications with state and national environmental nonprofits and UNC-TV.

Ann helps clients achieve inspiring goals by listening and collaborating to make campaign messages clear and compelling, setting ambitious yet achievable goals, and identifying leaders who will chart successful futures.

Ann currently serves on the boards of Learning Outside and the NC Coastal Land Trust and is a past Advisory Board chair of NC Sea Grant.  She is a proud graduate of the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media in Chapel Hill.

Ann is married to UNC Kenan Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing Bland Simpson. She has contributed original photography to four UNC Press book collaborations with her husband: Into the Sound Country (1997), The Inner Islands (2006), Little Rivers and Waterway Tales (2015) and North Carolina: Land of Water, Land of Sky (2021).

Fun fact: Ann and Susan Ross met as journalism classmates at UNC and continue to share a love of good writing and Carolina blue skies.
