FUNDRAISING IN FAITH COMMUNITIES
Fundraising in faith communities for annual stewardship planning, capital campaigns, endowment funds, or special projects requires intimate knowledge of a community’s goals and careful attention to the spiritual nature of giving.
moss+ross combines its expertise in all types of fundraising with specialized knowledge of strategies for faith communities. Our firm has a solid understanding of the differences between educational, nonprofit, and spiritual fundraising. In faith communities, fundraising success is not just about the money raised, but also about how a campaign will further ministry in a congregation, be a faith journey for its leaders and donors, engage and better serve current members, and attract new members. Several moss+ross associates have formal pastoral training and many have played leadership roles as fundraising volunteers in their church, synagogue, or other faith community.
Please contact Wes Brown, director of the moss+ross Faith Communities division, to discuss how we can help serve your congregation.
CLIENT CASE STUDY: BUILDING CAMPAIGN
A synagogue in Durham exceeded its $6M campaign goal to transform its building and grounds. moss+ross worked alongside the campaign and building leadership as they realized their vision to provide a spiritual home that will meet the needs of many generations to come. Our suite of services included campaign goal setting, case statement, campaign plan, milestone tracking, and celebration. Throughout the campaign, moss+ross was inspired by the dedication of time and resources, abiding faith, and collaboration within and beyond the synagogue’s community that made this endeavor so successful.
CLIENT CASE STUDY: CAMPAIGN FEASIBILITY STUDY
A Presbyterian church in Raleigh contracted moss+ross to assess the potential and timing for a capital campaign. moss+ross worked with a pre-campaign committee to develop goals and a preliminary case statement, interview church leaders and survey the congregation, and advise on dollar goals and timing. moss+ross delivered a report to the church Elders with criteria for decision making, timeframes, and stewardship considerations. moss+ross was honored to convey how the strong sense of community and mission factored into the congregation’s feedback.
