Lizzy Mottern is a managing partner and nonprofit development professional with experience in individual, foundation, and corporate giving programs. Her work includes collaborating with staff, board members and volunteer committees, on fundraising initiatives, capital campaigns, assessments and strategic plans. Prior to joining moss+ross in 2012, she was Assistant Director of Development at Duke University Libraries.

In addition to her involvement in counsel engagements, as Vice President of Talent, Lizzy leads interim staffing, and executive search engagements which include internal and external moss+ross talent initiatives to ensure maximum outcomes for clients. A creative problem solver, Lizzy embraces real-time client challenges by working with organizations to develop thoughtful, impactful solutions. Once engaged, she and moss+ross talent teams join clients in times of transition to ensure immediate client success, which builds towards positive long-term outcomes.

Lizzy earned a B.S. in Horticulture at Virginia Tech and an M.S. in Public Horticulture Administration and a certificate in museum studies from the University of Delaware. She became interested in fundraising through thesis work conducted as a Longwood Fellow at the University of Delaware. Currently she serves on the Generosity Committee at White Memorial Church.

Lizzy lives in Raleigh with her husband, Bobby, daughter Bea and their funny labradoodle, Coco. She loves spending time with her family, being outdoors, and never turns down a chance to go to the beach.

Fun fact: Lizzy has spent much of her time with moss+ross as an interim staff member for clients, therefore inspiring creation of the moss+ross interim solutions division.
