Kara joined moss+ross in April 2026 as a member of the Special Counsel team, bringing 25 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development communications. Through Kara’s work at local, national and international nonprofits and two large universities, she has gained valuable skills, including fundraising, public relations, graphic design, customer service, website management, script and speechwriting, and project management.

Kara previously worked at TLC (formerly Tammy Lynn Center), Early Years, Habitat for Humanity International, and Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. She also worked in annual giving at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and as Director of Communications for East Carolina University’s Advancement office.

Kara holds a B.A. in political science and M.A. in journalism/mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She likes to travel, read, and spend time with her family and their dog, Storm, and cat, Binx.
